- Moe Monster, so you thing euthanasia is a joke? If you had ever had it done, you would know better. it's the painless death every horse deserves. Yes, to costs money. But everything about keeping a horse costs money. They are NOT a cheap addiction.

- Corey, you have it exactly backward. Statistics prove that when a slaughter plant opens in an area, abuse goes UP and comes DOWN when the plants leave. We are outraged because our government continues to export toxic horse meat to those overseas to eat. It's illegal, immoral and disgraceful!

- I have NEVER found horse meat at Piggly Wiggly and if it were there it would be contaminated with substances that are absolutely banned from the human food chain.

- No, the EU has NOT banned our horses - yet. They have come close though, and by 2013 we will have to be on a traceability system comparable to their passport system or they WILL start refusing our horses. Until then, the meat WILL be sent mostly overseas. There is no market for horse meat in the US.

- There is NO animal that is slaughtered in a less humane way than horses. They are very different from other domesticated animals - especially cattle that have been bred for centuries to be docile. Horses are prey animals not far removed from their wild ancestors.

- NO, our military did NOT eat horse meat during the Reagan days! Americans haven't eaten horses since WWII and most of them gagged on it then.

- No, pet horses like mine will not go to slaughter unless they are stolen - which happens quite often. Where do you think the kill buyers get their horses? They steal a great many. Others are obtained following the for sale ads and presenting themselves to the seller as a legitimate buyer.
